20s chic back in vogue
02 November 2009
The pale, natural look often associated with the 1920s is set to become a big trend this winter, according to one beauty expert.
Professional make-up artist Amy Boyd forecast that "finger wave hair and red lips" will be popular this season - a style adopted by burlesque star and vintage fashion fanatic Dita Von Teese.
She said: "If you describe any decade - the 80s is all about the crazy makeup, 90s very terracotta, 60s lovely baby pinks, this is the decade of the fake eyelashes. Fake tan and eyelashes is the 2000s."
Elle magazine reported that for autumn 2009, John Galliano took his inspiration from the 20s. Models sported pencilled eyebrows, dark lips and sculpted hair to show off his collection.
Asda recently revealed that sales of fake tan products, eyelash extensions and false nails were up by between ten and 50 per cent this year.
