The release of the new film about design legend Coco Chanel will have an impact on how people dress, it has been suggested.

According to Alexandra Stedman, fashion assistant at Red magazine, the biopic about the French designer will spark a wave of copycat looks, with women inspired by her classic clothes and hairstyle.

Ms Stedman said that the movie, which is due to be released on July 31st, will "undoubtedly fuel" the UK high street's "love affair" with the Chanel brand.

She noted that while wearing the look "head to toe" may be a bit over the top, those who wish to emulate the look as worn by actress Audrey Tautou in Coco Avant Chanel could add simple touches to an outfit.

Tautou, who sports a classic 1920s hairstyle in the film, is also seen wearing a number of chic outfits, including tailored suits and elegant wide-brimmed hats.

Ms Stedman went on to say that Chanel style "is perfect for any age" and that women can "modernise the look with a cropped tweed jacket with jeans, chain strap handbag with your favourite day dress, or long pearls with a black outfit".
